It’s popular to come up with a business name when you are starting out on the road to entrepreneurship. But nowadays there’s a new debate on whether you should use a personal name for your business or create a business name.
When deciding between the two, there’s bound to be a little anxiety. What should you do for YOUR business? Don’t worry, I am going to break it down for you so you can decide... Your business brand is responsible for cultivating first impressions, building recognition, growing your reputation and authority, and securing the trust and loyalty of your soul clients and followers.
Without a strong brand foundation, it can become difficult for your business to stand out from the competition and lead to rough travels on the road to woo-woo entrepreneurship. When starting out, your resources may be limited and unfortunately, most transformational businesses end up missing some of the most important steps or altogether skipping the brand process, which is, in my book, a mistake. Let’s talk about some of the pitfalls of not having a brand… Back in the day, branding consisted of a snappy business name with a custom sign and possibly a logo. The purpose was simple: to let potential customers know what goods or services you had to offer. There wasn't much competition.
Boy how times have changed! There are so many choices out there. In order to stand out, you have to distinguish yourself and your business and that can be a challenge. That's where branding comes in! For many woo-woo at heart transformational entrepreneurs, spending money on a professional brand may seem like a leap when they are starting out or even when they are already established online. There are many online businesses offer services that make it seem easy to go it on your own.
Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the online free and low-cost design and website services have some major value and even pack some punch. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re wasting a lot of time and energy you could be spending on more important items that will get your business on the road. We’ve all been there. Needing a service or product, but dreading going online because there’s always that one person that just won’t let up or take no for an answer when you sign up for their freebie opt-in or contact them about their services.
The last time I went online looking for something I needed, I actually had one entrepreneur send me five marketing emails in one day asking why I had not signed up for the course or bought a service. I immediately unsubscribed and will not visit that website again! When I did decide to make a purchase, it was because of the knowledge and reputation of the person, the value of their services, and the overall non-pressure and ease of the online experience. Unfortunately, there are a lot of woo-woo at heart transformational businesses out there that tend to ignore our needs, peddling their goods and services, marketing day and night, and just putting on the air of desperation. |
