I don't know about you, but there have been times when I've asked for what I needed, stuck my neck out or taken a chance and I was not met with the most favorable outcome.
The sting of rejection. The hurt of the loss. The fear that rises in your throat and the thoughts that creep in telling you that you aren't worth it, you're not enough. Listen, I get it. We are all afraid of rejection. It's in our DNA. That's because if we were rejected from our tribe or community 1000 years ago we would starve and die. Our cells remember how scary rejection is. To overcome this fear, we need more awareness. We need to recognize we are no longer living in a remote wilderness trying to survive. When you get in a place where you need to ask for what you want, just tell your body it’s not 1000 years ago, believe in yourself and ask. If it's a no, just remember... Your worth doesn't decrease just because someone couldn't value it properly. Don't let the fear of rejection keep you from asking and don't allow the response to diminish your self-worth. |
